I'm new here
After searching many forums to join I chose this one to help me out with some enclosure questions. Thank you in advance for everyone's expert advise. I hope to learn many new things! First off let me give a quick introduction... My name is Devin and I work at Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue (www.donkeyrescue.org). Among donkeys we have many other animals here at the ranch such as bison, horses, llamas, pigs, goats, sheep... and the list goes on. We recently started WAR which stands for Wild Animal Refuge. We have been working on getting our permits that will allow for birds of prey, large cats and other exotic animals in need of rescuing. As of now, we have many reptiles that serve as wonderful educational animals to promote responsible pet ownership. A new addition to our family is a albino Burmese python. We are in the process of converting a restroom into a huge enclosure for her to enjoy. While I do have experience with reptiles and creating smaller natural enclosures, I have never done anything of this scale (5.5ft deep, 6ft wide, 9 ft tall). Lighting this thing is where the questions just keep coming. I need to produce basking spots, an overall ambient temp, night lighting? and UV lighting. My question is what do I use for a room this big. Retail terrarium light fixtures don't produce enough heat, have a deep enough UV penetration etc. I have tried to do my own research on the web but there is SO much information and none of it seems to be what I am looking for. If there is anyone out there that has ever done something of this size successfully PLEASE share your lighting secrets with me. Any and all responses are appreciated.
