is sand ok?

quick question... is sand ok for a leopard gecko? some peole say it isnt while others say its fine...HELP!!!

In short, NO. For an adult, desert sand is ok but still rather dangerous. The stuff called Calci-sand, or Vita-sand has been shown over and over again to kill the reptile that eats it. Even though the package states it is safe to be eaten.

I would NEVER put a baby(under a year old) on ANY type of sand. The risk of gut impaction is too great to risk trying. I use bird millet for all my leopard geckos and it works great. I have also tried the coco-fiber stuff and it too is pretty good. It may not be a pretty as the Calci-sand stuff, but a hell of a lot safer..
