Red Foot tort. shell problem Need Help!

Hi,

I had my red foot in class showing him off to students and I noticed what looks like a break and some discoloration on the bottom of his shell.  It looks pretty bad but also as I was looking around I noticed other scarred indents on the tortoises bottom shell!  I wonder if he had been dropped at one time! 

My main concern is the discoloration and crack I want to know what has caused it and what I can do to fix it? 

please help

The discolouration is my main concern there.
