And then I got involved with a large reptile rescue.. Horrible situation. There were over 20 ball pythons, 1 rt boa, 5 bearded dragons, 2 Nile monitors and 1 Berber skink, plus rodents, etc. All left behind in a garage after owners got evicted.. and this was the home of a Reptile Rescue business.. These animals were in garage for at least a month with nobody knowing they were there.. PLUS with the look of the lizards, there was several months of serious neglet. I seriously doubt if these animals have ever seen a UVB light in there lives. The metabolic bone disease was pretty extensive.
I took the lizards and a one-eye hamster that just looked too sad to leave behind(sweetheart of a fuzzy rat). Sadly the 2 Niles had to be put down, both had mouth rot and stomach infections. 2 of the beardies were walking skeletons and did not make it, even with me syringe feeding daily.. And the skink was/is so deformed from lack of UV it may never fully recover.. BUT.. IT IS ALIVE and doing very WELL. .. And it looked worse then the others at the time of rescue.
But the survivors are all doing well in new homes.. All snakes are thriving and gaining weight. I have kept 2 of the dragons and the skink.. and they are becoming the food hogs they were meant to be.. the little male beardie actually bobs his head at me to feed him..

And to top off the month of June, I now get to find a new job to pay for all these new mouths to feed.. oh, well... at least I get to have time to chat with all of you cool folks again...
Cheers,
Billie.. aka Frogqueen
