I would appreciate anyone's help greatly!! After MUCH research we purchased a Beardie (about 4-5 months old) and yesterday ended up going to the best and most knowledgable reptile store around. The cages they sold there were the standard 40 gallon glass aquarium but the lids are 1/2 glass and 1/2 screen. My question is....can someone please tell us (as this hasn't sat right with me from the start) the pre-drilled hole for the basking light (which is on glass side) is about 14" to the right from where the much needed UVB lamp is on the (left) screen side!! I am so concerned as on every site I have been to, they say that these 2 lights need to be within NO MORE than 12" of each other! I could move his basking branch over a few inches but this would put him a few inches to the left side of his heat lamp but would yet allow him to get benefits of both lamps at the same time. I can't put set the UVB bulb on top of the glass part where the spot light is as the glass will block out the UVB rays! Boy,I thought I was so informed, but now I am so unsettled about his light set-up! Why would they sell these 1/2 and 1/2 lids if they weren't okay?? That's all they sell and they have sold tons of them over the years. Please if anyone has this type of lid, please write! We are so appreciative of any advice as we are so ready to give this lil guy a loving home. Thank you!!
I lost you somewhere between the 2 parts of the lids A pix would be more desirable should we want to comment on it.
