I do not think that they should have the painted shells. First off, the hermies do not like it and are forced into the shells by being tramatized to get them in it. The paint makes them look cute and makes people want to buy them and not know how to properly care for them, which is worse on the hermies. Then the paint chips off and they will eat it, which can be fatal to hermies, if it doesnt break down or if they use toxic paint.

The paint on the shells can eventually chip off and be swallowed by the crabs. Mine hate them, they move into a natural one within the first week.
