Yea, Bummer. My question is how did the critter get the stuff in.
This must have been over an extended amount of time and the sand being a little to fine so attaching itself to the Gecko some how.

seeing it was calci sand leos tend to want to eat it to get extra calcium not knowing it is going to kill them....

Thanks for posting.. This is exactly why I use millet for my leopard geckos... 100% natural.. Very small.. And will digest and poop out if they do eat it along with the bugs. I know of Uromastic breeders who have execellent success with millet, where they had death with sand, including the "wonderful" calci-sand...

Just a quick question to you Frog queen why not keep them on tile you can buy it very cheap get the cuts required at the store and it thats a life time so theres no need to replace the poop and bacteria filled millet

I have seen them pic hundreds of times, its very sad and like already said, easly avoided. It amazes me that the use of sand is still debated, I honestly dont see the debate . Sand is a proven killer of leos, I use and reccomend safe substrates rather then ones that look nicest. The animals safety comes first. I use paper towels or newspaper for my leos, but other safe things to use are slate rocks or tiles.

i used calci sand for a wile before i realised how bad it was and changed it strait away and its really expensive i then used slaye but they kept trying to eat it and were pooing it out so i put them on paper (best yet) and now there on vinyl wich is even better in ways.

I have tried different substrates, coco fiber, paper towels, even the sand.. I feel that tile and slate would be too hard for the gecko... And very unnatural. Would be nice to heat and ease of cleaning, but wouldn't it be hard to give a cool side of tank??

Cleaning is rather easy for millet.. The waste clumps up nicely.. and when it does get dirty, easy to change..cheap to buy..and 100% organic...I buy 50 pounds for $5.00 (US)..
