thanks for all the input folks, this has turned up a few diffrent opinions and thats what we are here for after all.
he went mad and right now if i was to approach slow he will allow me to stroke him for a while then lift him out. once out he is no problem so i think dragona could be right in the fact he is protecting his own space but at the same time i will keep interacting heavily as it seems to be working.

Hello,

I agree, we can all disagree.  All I am saying is if you spend enough time with one dragon, if you give them a chance you can see how intelligent they really are.  Most people just don't spend enough time trying to learn to communicate with them.
Our dragon was potty trained from just about the 1st month that we brought him home.  If you have ever talked to them & really listened, you will develop a language.  I know it sounds strange, but our dragon clicked a certain amount of times when he wanted down off of me to go potty.  He never went in his tank.  When he wanted to go outside, he would run to the door, & scratch at it to go potty, just like a dog, amazing if you ask me.
He had an open cage so he could go in & out as he wanted to.  If he wasn't getting the attention he wanted, he would literally put his head down on his basking rock, turn his beard black to get attention, pouting.  It worked though & he got his way.
I think it is ALL in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.   Grin

Im sorry - i'm not sure if you typed this post whilst under the influence of alchohol or other head spinning products! Huh

You are out of your mind in thinking you can communicate with a bearded dragon - what language do they speak ?  Grin

I have listened very carefully but cannot develop the language you seemed to have established - you have posted some great topics recently but i think this thread goes way beyond some of us!

and - Potty training - are you for real?Huh why don't you just wrap a nappy round his rear end - then you wont have to keep wiping the floor of his vivarium......
First he was just like children. Now, you are saying he's just like a dog - maybe you should enroll him into the police force - he'll come in very handy.

If you did the above - how did you manage to maintain the constant temperature that these reptiles so badly thrive on, did you ever think of the scientific facts that the temp in his viv was too low which his why he went to his basking rock in search of warmth and turned his beard black because he was stressed out and cold-???

I'm sorry to be a tad humerous but i just cant figure out your phsycic views.

Hello,

You know what?  I am a friend of Shadi's & came over to help out & chat with people.
While I appreciate the difference in views, I really don't need this type of abuse.
I was simply very intune with our dragon.  I knew exactly what he wanted, when he wanted it.  He never went potty in HIS tank, ever, he wanted outside to go potty.  I used wetones on him as well.
You do potty train kids & you train dogs to potty outside as well.  Both species demand attention in alot of the same ways.
We live in Key West, Florida where it NEVER gets cold, so, maintaining temps was no problem at all.  Do think that I am that dumb where I would keep him at subpar temps?  Have you seen pics of our male?  He is 4 & has never had a health problem in his life, never been on a single medication, ever.  So, I don't think that is a dragon who was mistreated.  He was on his rock basking & watching us all of the time.  If we didn't pay enough attention to him like he wanted that is when he would pout!!  The minute we went over & talked to him or petted him he would perk right up.  That was just his personality.
I am really insulted that you would even insinuate that I didn't take care of my boy, you don't even know me at all.
You obviously haven't gotten inside of a dragon's mind & tried to communicate.  I honestly don't care if you think that I am nuts.  I just love dragons that's all.
I have never been so insulted on a forum in my life.  Sorry, I don't come on to be insulted & to say that I was on drugs or alcohol?  That is so rude!
You know, Dr. Kathryn Tosney from University of Michigan claimed that she could communicate with dragons as well.  She is a vet, too.  So, are you going to call her out of her mind as well?
I will no longer be posting on this forum any longer.
Sorry Laura, no offense to you!   Whip everyone into shape!! Grin
Fiferman, I hope your dragon stays calm for you!!

Sorry I had alot going on today and didnt spend long on the forum.
Really Dragona. Tracie is a good friend of mine and has a ton of knowledge that would be excellent for this forum. and I asked her to join and that aside name calling such as this is wrong. and should not be done in a forum.
Tracie. I am sorry you were treated this way and now feel offended. I know you take superb care of your animals. and would never do anything to harm them.

I do have to say. Mine will climb the side of the tank because they do not poop in the tank. I have one who will pace back and forth when she has to go. and another who runs head on into the glass. all to come out and go to the bathroom. If I do not pick them up when i get home or pay attention I will get black beards puffing beards and grey beards.
If i open the cage typically they will jump out to be held..

I am sorry FIFERMAN I am locking this thread because its really gone far enough. i dont not see the point in letting this continue. if you need additional help feel free to post again
