Hi all (with pics)
« on: January 17, 2007, 05:54:33 PM »

Hi there, newbie from Hong Kong.

I have two sliders since I was a kid (and that's well over 10 years ago), but I still know very little about them. I'm hoping to learn more here as they need a bit more care now that they are getting old.

I was going to take pictures, but one of them is napping (under the tank), and the other is currently hyperactive (couldn't get a clear shot yet). I'll post pictures later when I borrow a better camera.

This is one of my slider. He is a little older than the other one who is still napping. He is a meanie. He sometimes bites or poke the other slider with his claws. I usually separate the two of them when they are both in water. I tried to clipped his nails, but that doesn't do much.

He is also nosy. He always poke his head into anything new on the floor, but he'll quickly decide wheather he would attack or flee. He seems to think he can take on our new wardrobe (he tilted his head and take a bite), but my camera seems to be the thing he'll flee from. I had a hard time trying to keep him still for a nice shoot.

Does one slider have short nails and the other long nails? since I cant see the pic either.. If so that could be why your having troubles. no matter how much you trim it wont help. you have a male and female. The males have long claws and long tails. females have short claws and short tails. I had a male red eared for 15 years and have had a female cooter for the last 2 years
