Well do lots of research and make sure you know what your getting into Wink. Burms are one the largest snakes in the world, they are extremly powerful and can kill you when they get 10+ft. Speaking of burms, their was a guy just killed by his 14ft burm, it was either yesterday or today Sad.

Not trying to scare you, just trying to make sure you understand what you are getting and the possible dangers Wink

are u tryin to imply that people who have burms dont know how to look after them?
personally i dont like ur approach, u have come here and said im gettin one gimme info on it
have u ever read a book on these very large pythons?
i hate people who purchase snakes as a novelty cos they're 'cool'
if i have the wrong end of the stick i apologize but as i said i did not like ur approach

Well im the last person who would buy one of these animals because of the cool factor. Yes I have wread books about how to keep these snakes. The best one being hand givin to me buy my vet. Well, every burm I see posted on the internet, is not in good shape. All are over weight and the people play ignorant and just plane stupid about the subject. They say that their animals live long healthy lives while being obesse. My snake will be slim, the way they should be. More peole should be following my example on how to keep snakes.

As long as you are prepared for proper care and housing and know its a lifetime pet. the problem I find with them is people get them and then 10 years down the road they are tired of this pet that can live 30 years. and they cant find a home. Its hard to rehome a large snake.  Or they realize that they need help in handling. its not safe to handle a large snake by yourself in my personal opinion.
I have a 9 ft boa. and even him we make sure we are both there to handle him even though he enjoys being handled. and I doubt he would do anything. Its the safer way to deal with it. We considered finding a home for but nothing is suitable. ITs not because we are tired of him. its because of a child being in the home. luckily she has been taught proper care of reptiles. and I highly doubt she will mess with him. but he still has a locking cage anyhow. When he was bought by my fiance 8 years ago he didnt have a kid and that wasnt a thought. I have a 9 year old and curiosity of children can be dangerous.
I dont think anyone is trying to scare you out of it. but let you know to think of all the years down the road before getting a big snake.
