its not really gd to keep an animal on one particular food source, i have researched that for any lizard the exo skeleton can be difficult to digest but im not sayin that as a rule!also, wen u read most info about feedin mealies it tells u to crush or remove the head to prevent internal injury

I agree its best to feed a variety but mealies are a fine staple diet for leos, most breeders use them and some of the best looking leos I have ever seen are fed mealies as a staple. The hard shell is mainly a myth, most lizards will crush the shell no problems.

I would just like to correct you ReptileMan27... mealworms should not be feed to a bearded dragon even if they are adults. If you have to choose between Superworms or Mealworms choose Superworms * note neither of these food items should be feed to a dragon under 12 inch's* the reason you should choose a superworm over a mealworms is because a superworm has a higher meat to chitin ratio, which means it is less likely to cause impaction.

I would have to disagree with that, I know people who feed their beardys mealies all the time for years without any problems, I fed both my beardys mealies also without problems . I wouldnt reccomend them as a staple for beardies because beardys really need a varied diet but never seen or heard of any problems with feeding mealies to beardys Sounds like another one of the great mealie myths

I have never paid much attention to myths of worm food attaching the prey animal. Who is going to decapitate these worms in the wild??
