My Beardie Story - DIAL UP WARNING
« on: November 15, 2006, 05:33:37 PM »

Well, lyk i sed in the post about describing ur beardie, i'll post some pics here:

Well, I hav 2 beardies, Puff, male, and Saphira, female, and they are Pogona minor minor aka Western Dwarf Bearded Dragon. I've had Saphira since November 2004, and i guess she was little under a year old wen i bought her. Puff I got at the beginning of this year, and he is a fair bit younger than Saphira, but nonetheless he won her over and now I have eggs! Cheesy Here are the pics:

This is Puff...

This is Saphira...

Here's their Viv...

Here's a gravid Saphira Smiley...

The eggs in the ground...

The incubator, lid on...

The incubator, lid off (before eggs)...

This is wat the eggs looked lyk originally, dehydrated as hell, so then i added some water...

And they popped back out!

Here's my one candling attempt a little while ago.

All six eggs are alive with veins evident in all! Smiley

What do u guys reckon ?

Those are beautiful eggs. I am curious about saphira though. She looks like a small young dragon.  Is it just the way the picture looks?

She is small, yes (smaller than all your dragons), but young, no. She's a different species to wat you guys are keeping. Down here in Oz we have many many species of Beardie, and me living in the west Pogona minor minor is the only species which is legal to keep.

I've always found it interesting that it is fine for the USA to keep an Eastern Australian herp, but over here on the other side of the same country that it comes from it's completely illegal. I love my beardies to bits tho, theyre so full of character. Smiley

Oh wow! That is facinating. I have never seen these. Do they also come in color mutations?
To me, it would be like having beardie babies for life.  They are not allowed in the US?
They look just precious. I love it when they grab the fingers.

Lol, yeh u can get them in colour mutations, but im not the one to spk 2 about them, i am completely against them! Lol. I just think breeding lyk that to get a nice colour is unnatural, here in australia we try to breed to locality, but i spose thats different in USA, not realy possible! Grin

Those are really different.  I have 6 Rankin's (pagona henrilawsoni) Dragons I am planning to breed this spring.  What are the sizes of these and how long are they snout to tail...also weight in grams?  My Rankin's male, the oldest of my group is 10" long and 82 grams.

Where are you located LizardLady.  I've been looking for Rankins here in Canada and seem to be the only one that not only has them but even knows what they are.  I think they are great animals, and perfect for those that don't want something that gets to be big like P. vitticeps.
