Venomoids
« on: November 02, 2006, 03:07:39 AM »

Well I figured to keep these forums going and to add more posts, I would start this poll. This poll was meant to nicely debate this, please no fighting or swearing.  My opinions on venomoids are simple, I feel their are cruel and sick. Its simple and this saying says it, if you cant stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen Wink. So yes im against venomoids.

I am against devenomoizing snakes, however I feel that I have no more right to tell you that you can't have one then you do to tell me I can't have venomous snakes. All I ask is that if you MUST have a venomoid, at least have the surgery done by a licensed qualified vet, and done PROPPERLY.

Would anyone amputating a caged birds wings so it will stop the animal getting away due to the owners stupidity??

Humans have the choice to have their bodies medically altered or deformed but the snake does not.

The animal was created with what it has so leave it the way it was found

My opinion is: “save an animal and kill a Venomoids keeper.”

I have seen a venomoid king close up before and its a sad site Sad. A local breeder and dealer that I know has been keeping hots and was given a venomoid king cobra from NERD because anytime he had a snake hot die, he would let them have it to practice the surgery on. I came in his store and he had it around his neck, very sad to see, not acting like a normal king at all Angry Sad.

Totally against.  It is completly un-necessary.

I don't agree with keeping hots anyway, but this is hardly a compromise.

Simon not to stir the pot but a thought all the same.
As horses kill more people worldwide than snakes do shouldn’t you also be advising everyone not keepings these “dangerous” killer beasts?? Roll Eyes

Although I do agree with you to a point simon, Like SI pointed out, other animals injure and even kill alot more people then all pet reptiles combined, horses are nothing though compared to dog attacks, their are thousands of dog attacks each year in the USA alone. But I still do agree with you simon, that these are not pets and very few people should keep them.

Appreciate your comments, but I try and look at each situation as a whole and not try and work out which is the least dangerous to keep.

As a further thought, animals have been utilised for many years for chores and such.  Dogs have been used for transport, security, etc.  Horses have been used for transport.  Snakes have not shown a purpose like this for human use.  Has there been a purpose to keep snakes around?
