Hi again,
  Is it just me or does it seem like Iguanas have the most attitude out of all the lizards..and even furry animals!!
  Mabye not for everyone else but my Ig's are full of it!! as nasty as they can be sometimes I still love em..its part of what makes them intersting.. Toby's the crazy, mostly loving one with the occasional mood swing while rex thinks he owns the world because clearly hes a 30 foot tall t rex...and i should know that *rolls eyes* there both a hand full sometimes but I love them!
 If anyone else has any funny attitude stories..or questions id love to hear them!

Thats not uncommon, especially with males. They are fine intill 2 years of age and then they become really aggressive, the males go threw a really bad sexual maturing stage. I had a male a few years ago that was fine and freindly intill 2 years of age and then he turned mean, We moved and I didnt have the room to take him, so I found him a good home. My freind also has some male igs that will attack anything that trys to go in the cage, they will leap of their branch at you .

i agree with you that male ig's can be mean but its usally only in breeding season you could try giving him a love sock  lol just by a couplpeof green socks get a hand cloth and put the hand cloth in the sock and sew the sock so towel is inside the sock  then put the other socks over the the first sock and sew together as you put them on and then just put it in his cage and take it when he is done and put it in the washing machine alone    and if he makes no move to it at the start srtick it in the microwavefor like 45 seconds or untill it warm not hot but warm he willmosst likely notice then.  i havent hada problem yet cuz my guy's only a baby right now well more like a juvie only a little over a year old.

I'm well aware of the attitude issues males tend to develop when in mating season, however mine are not old enough to have reached sexual maturity yet and that was not what the post was about.
 For those who have owned other reptiles than Iguanas I was wondering if they to noticed that Iguanas as a specie seem to have more attitude than any other,( eg. Iguanas Vs. Beardies, Iguanas Vs.Skinks) even some furred animals..it had nothing to do with sexual maturity..I simply meant as a whole...they display more personality...

Attitude comes from somewhere , mine and most I have seen are more spooky then anything intill 2 years of age if its a male. Attitude  is just another word for aggression . The difference between a 4+ft iguana with an attitude and a little skink or beardy is huge and poetentially dangerous. Theirs no doubt they are one of they most intelligent lizards out their but that isnt always a good thing .

I guess I am fortunate.  My male that is 3 years old is sweet whether he is in season or not.  My female is the stubborn one, she fights me constantly even when she is getting what she wants.  I have a young 19 mo. old male that had his first season resently, he is just skittish.  There are many studies out there about having males neutered.  This usually rarely works on older iguanas to deter the seasonal behaviors, but there has been great success in have young males neuter before or after their first season.  My young male is getting the surgery next week.  My female is spayed, the only one that has everything still intact is my 3 year old male, he never showed any aggression, so I didn't see any need for it with him.

i had an iguana once, not sure if it was a male or female because i wasn't able to keep it long enough, but it had a personality alright, pissed off. it would hiss and whip if i tried to pick it up.... looking back on the whole experience i now know that i should have been more patient and persistent with proper training, but when you're young you don't necessarily realise these things.... chasing it around the tank with my hand was definately a bad idea.... i have also read from a few sources that iguanas don't particularly like human contact and would rather be left alone, although they can be trained over time, especially if purchased as a baby/young juvenille..... in either case, I now have a leopard gecko who doesnt seem to mind being handled, she gets a little bit skiddish but eventually crawls onto my hand and chills in my hands , walking up my arms, etc.... she's a darling...
